And so the year begins to slip into the greyness of the past and we hope for a bright start to the next…

I’ve had a few nice days at the State Park, since last I posted.

It’s always a good morning when the wildlife comes out to join in the scenery.
On a following weekend, though, I arrived at the entry drive on an excellent, foggy morning…

…only to discover that it was closed for a weekend hunt. My guess, and it is purely a guess, is that this is an event to thin out the boar population. Annoying to discover this, but we’ve found what looked like boar damage on many of our walks, so I understand the need.
That said…a foggy morning is also a great time to look for alternate photo opportunities…

…even in the parking area where one turns around, at the closed and locked gate…

After that, the options are a bit more spread out.

Loved finding these, but then the lingering shadow of Halloween crept across my path, and I found myself looking for scenes that even more closely matched the clinging mists.

Honestly, the hardest thing to find, when one goes looking for such locations, is a “graveyard” vs an overly manicured, rigidly ordered, “cemetery.”
Still, I love the grey wash of the day and the lingering darkness in the recesses of the tree bark and the overhang of the branches.
I plan to dig through old, snowy pics, next time. Something a bit more “Holiday,” for the season.
Until then…
Tight lines…
