Closing In…

According to my countdown app, I have roughly 18.5 days to go, before Fly Fishing season kicks off (as I write this, the app passes below 1602661 seconds, in case you were wondering).

Soon.

No huge changes, since my last post, but wanted to share a few pics, just to stay current.

One quick scouting stop of the Cle Elum river, this past week.

Everything was running high, this day, so not surprising that it looks this turbulent. Definitely one to further explore, with campgrounds farther upstream, and reports of excellent fishing in areas good for wading.

Also some interesting scenery, on the Western Slopes, driving home the difference in climate as you cross the Cascades. This was the same day as the pic of the river.

Great sunrise on Mother’s Day! Kind of a gift, in a way.

After this, kind of a melancholy day. Hard one, with our older daughter not at home on Mother’s Day for the first time, but our younger daughter and I tried to brighten it up as much as possible.

After that, a bit of yard work (“a bit of” meaning the initial leveling of the early spring growth, so… a couple of hours of machete, string trimmer, mower work). Noticed this, from one of the flowering shrubs, as I passed by…

Dinner, at my wife’s request, ended up being Poutine. Not just any Poutine, though. Extra-crispy fries, tossed in EVOO and truffle salt, topped with butter-sautéd Portobello mushroom strips, cubes of black pepper cheddar, and topped with thick gravy augmented with Worcestershire sauce and tamari. Sorry, no pic. Gone too quickly.

Today, while dragging the bin to the road for trash collection, I received an angry earful from an nearby Hawk.

Looking up a bit higher, and it was obvious why I was “not supposed to be there.”

Here’s hoping for a week of great weather, reasonably smooth work flow, and for time to tick down to fishing season as quickly as possible.

Tight lines…
