Early December Update

Just wanted to share a few of the notable events of the past weeks. As always, this time of year gets intermittently busy with work, but has not been “horrible.” Thankful to still be working, and feel for those that cannot. Rough year, to be sure.

The return home has smoothed out, considerably, and we already have the tree up, to make it even more inviting.

Great to be home.

Our daughters are doing some skiing, this year. Great to have them enjoying the outdoors, getting the thrills and exercise, and being able to share the experience. A bit of car trouble, on one outing, had me waiting for roadside assistance for a while, but who can object to an hour spent here:

After a bit, the roar of jet engines came to my ears, and when I turned to look at this view, no camera in hand at the time, I could see the underside of a fighter jet, wings vertical, as it skimmed the tree tips going up the slope. The top-most point of it’s wings were low enough that they were fully silhouetted by the green of the trees on the far ridge.

Next time around, I did manage to grab a bit of video.

Not as low as the previous pass…but must be a huge rush to fly that route!

The following day, we went to one of our “swimming holes” on a nearby river, to take some possible family pictures. While I was setting up, we caught sight of these visitors, and I grabbed a few shots to keep and share.

As a fly fisher, I’m in awe of the ease with which these hunters grab the fish that I’m also seeking. Off season, so at least I’m not in competition with them, at the moment, but always enjoyable to see their playfulness and exuberance.

Slower day, today, so I’m reading (a wine text!), sipping an Oregon Pinot Noir, and just taking it easy.

I hope whomever sees this is similarly able to relax and enjoy something of a break. If not, I hope things turn around, soon.

Tight lines.
