I want to wish all my subscribers, and those that happen upon my site or ramblings, a very Happy New Year. I hope 2022 will bring everyone peace and happiness.
The final sunset of 2021 was different, in some ways, from others I had captured.
There were brilliant, golden hues, but that is not too exceptional. What did stand out, however, was the ray of light that so consistently extended upward from the sun. It seemed to be present regardless of the movement of the clouds, or how far below the horizon the sun passed, right up until the clouds sealed up around it’s last light.
The clouds allowed me to track the final moments of the sunset so nicely.
Once it passed behind the Cascades, there was a seam of light remaining for only a few minutes. Just enough of a gap to allow that finger of golden light to tough the underside of another cloud mass.
It was like a parting gift from a year that was sometimes not too kind.
May 2022 being each of you peace and joy.
As the old toast goes; “May the best of your past be the worst of your future.”
