Quick drive up to Ellensburg, today. An ask from one of our daughters, which I took as an excuse to see if my favorite fly shop was open (it wasn’t) and to see if the Yakima River Canyon was looking to be in good shape (it definitely was).
Nice water level, from the looks of the rocky sandbars, and the slightly visible base of the edge vegetation. USGS website says 2060cfs, which is close to easily wadeable.
Such a great spot. As soon as work gives me a break, I cannot wait to get back in these waters.
I might (*shudders as he types*) actually giving nymphing another shot. I threw together a couple Pheasant Tail nymphs, this weekend, but didn’t quite have the right supplies.
I know…tail too long…what else am I missing?
I’m picking up the right hooks, this week, and a couple of other things I need to do these properly, but it was worth a try, I think.
In any event, looking forward to more tying, fishing, and time in nature.
Tight lines…
