June … not usually known for hitting temperature high-notes, even in the high desert. Today … 104°! By Tuesday, if the sometimes temperamental weather apps are correct, perhaps 114°. Scary hot. Cook on the car hood hot – if you’re into salt/pepper/road grit seasonings.
So, what’s a family to do?
Escape to a river.

Packed up everyone, took a camp chair and a cargo blanket, and set up my wife and daughters with a spot to relax, swim when they feel like it, read a book, or just lay out.
I, of course, took to the water and fly fished my way upstream.

I hooked a few, but nothing large enough that I would feel good about keeping them from the water long enough for a picture. Still, a great couple of hours (or was it 3?) spent in the water. Good to get some quality time with the Cutthroat Trout, too. I think they missed me…right?
Also, a big Thank You to the family for the cookbook that was waiting for me, as I came home from work. An extension of my continuing to evolve enjoyment of wine and Italian food…

Good to be loved…especially by people that know you well.
Tight lines…
