Knock, knock…

I spent some time out on the driveway, today, getting used to flight controls on a cheap drone, when this guy showed up.

Definitely a strong reminder that fly fishing season is quickly approaching.

Odd to get a stonefly here, as the nearest regularly flowing river is 4+ miles away.

Perhaps this is an emissary, sent by the insect clans to prompt me to catch trout (forgetting that I’m almost always C&R!)?

In any event…looking for a few tying supplies, in a bit, to match the size and color. If the water levels allow me to, I might sneak in some fly fishing on my next road trip.

Also, the drone idea stems from a desire to properly map some of the spots I fish. Not as in “grainy, satellite images with the rock and sandbar formations from 3 years ago,” more like the “this is what it looked like 3 weeks ago” line of thinking. Fun toy, but I’m still on the fence about whether this kind of detailed scouting is actually, well, cheating.

We shall see.

Tight lines…
