The Long Path Home

Last weekend (no, not the one that just went by blindingly fast, but the one before that) I was able to get away for a 4-day stretch, to go see our lovely daughter in San Diego! Great trip and always a pleasure to catch up with her. The second half of the four-day trip was allocated to taking a leisurely drive back to the rental house in Houston, having flown to SD.

You see, my daughter didn’t want to put her car in storage for several months, while she’s traveling, so I offered to keep it in our garage.

Kind, right?

To make that long flight, have a lovely visit with her, then make the slow, ponderous 1500-mile drive back…

… in her Charger.

I mean, that takes a while, right?

First day there, a trip into the mountains, to a lake that she loves to visit to get away.

Beautiful drive and an excellent spot to sit and feel the breeze coming across the water (which would have been at our back, as I took the above pic – sorry).

There you go.

Great day, out and about. Dinner at a French bistro on Coronado (Little Frenchie – I highly recommend it), and a chance to visit the beach for a bit. No sunset, but also not as cold as it might look.

Sunday was breakfast with her, then hitting the road after a couple of errands. A stop on the side of the interstate was in order, once this view appeared in the rear view mirror.

I almost made it to Texas that first day. Not bad for an almost noon start!

Second day saw me all the way back to Houston, with another sunset presenting itself as I got close to the city.

Good to get “home,” but great to see my daughter for the first time in a while.

Take care, everyone. Hug your kids, siblings, parents when you can. It’s medicinal for both of you.

Tight lines…
