It looks like the combination of my changing job role, the nearby fire (showing 91% contained, this morning!), and the onset of significantly more chilly weather have conspired to keep me from Fly Fishing anywhere near as often as I should have, this year. I will have to make a note to try harder, next year.
In the meantime, I have tied a few Woolly Buggers for a fellow fly fisher, to keep my mind from drifting too far.
First time tying them with the tinsel flash, and had a bit of a time figuring out how to tie it in for the effect I was hoping to achieve. In the end, each of 4 strands (2 per side) are tied into the trailing marabou, then held back while wrapping chenille and palmering the hackle, then woven through the hackle fibers to create a “side flash”, and tied off with extra at the neck, so they trail behind when pulled through the water.
Sounds like it should work…but I will have to wait and see if the fish are smarter than I am.
A few brilliant sunrises, of late, and some nicer views of sunset as the smoke has greatly diminished.
Catch-up page for some other images.
I’m looking forward to trying to capture more Full Moon pics, weather permitting, next week, now that I have (kind of) sorted out the low-light settings on the camera.
Two nights below freezing, already. Winter on it’s way.
Maybe 1 more chance to get some fly fishing in?? 17 Days, and a few odd hours/minutes/seconds, left in this season. Maybe a couple of days in the mid- to high-60s left.
We shall see.
Tight lines…
