Mid-January … Hard to Believe

Looking at my wall calendar … then in the organizer software on my various work computers … then re-checking on either smart phone … all seem to agree that it really is the halfway point of January, already.

Time certainly can fly by.

I have posted a new page for the occasional shows we get in the skies, it can be found HERE if you are interested. Many days of fog (often kicking off with freezing fog, but thankfully warming up enough to melt it back off around mid-morning) have limited the spectacular colors we can get, but this, too, shall pass. That said, can’t be disappointed with the occasional view like this.

I did have occasion to host a dinner for some close friends, recently, too. Decided on serving this, with each of them challenged (recipe shared in advance) to pair a wine of their choice with the main.

Braised beef short ribs with sauteed pancetta/mushrooms, pan sauce, garlic smashed potatoes, and glazed carrots.

Always a great time, when schedules allow for these dinners. Some excellent wines (winner takes the duplicate bottles, as each person brings 2 of the same thing!), but more importantly, great chance to catch up and relax.

I’m curious…given the description, and a bit of additional information (4hrs braised in Malbec and beef broth, with heads of garlic softening next to them, to be strained into the pan sauce), what would you bring to pair with this?

More to come, but wanted to be sure to catch up a bit, given how far into the month it has already gone!

Tight lines…
